Polet leos is a producer, songwriter, and vocalist specializing in Pop, R&B, and Alternative records with cinematic depth and emotional clarity.
For an upcoming project, she reached out and asked if there was anyway I could create a pair of pants that she would be able to use for her project.
Artist Notes: Poe wanted this piece to tie closely to her Mexican roots. I immediately was inspired by a pair of jeans I made for a client of mine in 2024. The pants were Tex-Mex theme, with a heavy influence on Mexico. Personally, I drew my inspiration from my own Mexican culture and gravitated towards the Virgin Mary image and the line work in cowboy boots. From that I came up with these pair of jeans in 2024.
At the end of every project, I look at the finished piece and I'm always in awe - like dang! I made that? For lack of better works, It feels like I blackout when I'm creating. Maybe I'm just not appreciating the process of the work - as frustrating as it can be sometimes. I was pretty proud of the outcome of these jeans. I get better and better every time!
My favorite part of this piece is the pockets. I felt like they were a detail that stood out the most to me. Although very subtle, it was a tasteful addition in my opinion.
Duration: This project took about 2 weeks to complete. I was fortunate to already have a pattern I made for the first pair of jeans I made, that was a perfect size, so I was able to reuse that pattern and add minor adjustments.

From this inspiration, I wanted to give Poe something similar, but still make it very HER. with that, I came up with this barrel pant style paid of jeans.
Low lights of the project: Ugh! I cant's stand sewing the fly on a pair of jeans. The layers of fabric are so thick for my home sewing machine. It's frustrating. working through getting better at sewing zipper flys/Any Fly in denim.
